Mind Over Matter

"When you don't mind, it doesn't matter!" ... The problem is when you do mind, but it still doesn't matter, for reasons completely out of your control.

I SO agree! I have several things that I could apply this to!

Sorry, but this is what I classify as typical Lebanese thinking: "I don't like it, but it's outside my control."

Isn't what you are really saying, "I don't want to change things if that means me sacrificing my personal comfort?"

Hahaha,
Solomon2, spare me the self-righteous indignation and "typical Lebanese thinking" crap.

I am all for the role of the individual and all for slow gradual progress - from the bottom up- and I would like to think that I start with myself by practicing what I preach.
On the other hand I have no control over the policies of Hizbulla or Michel Aoun or over their surreal ability to influence their constituents, just as I have no control over Hariri or Jumblatt or Geagea. I therefore have no control over the wheelings and dealings that they conduct with Iran and Syria or with Saudi Arabia and the US... I have even less than no control over the policies of said countries in the middle east and specifically Lebanon.
All that I can do is engage people in writing and in dialogue in the hope that by doing so I would play a small part in encouraging freedom of thought as a prelude to true freedom of speech.

But what good is slow gradual progress if it is outpaced by a rapid deterioration to medieval lines of thinking and practices...

Spare me dude.

Really? What is stopping yourself and your friends from organizing at the political level and taking a noisy stand on television or the press?

Well? Another pol was blown up today. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
